IDAL Instructor Biography

Karyn A. Meyer-Berthel

With a background in education from the University of Georgia, and an MFA from North Carolina School of the Arts, much of what I studied was education, decorative art, theatre painting, art history, and drawing and painting.  I worked in theatre painting for a few years, both teaching and painting before exploring other art careers. As a Mellon intern at the National Gallery of Art and a member of ASTM, (American Standards of Testing and Materials), I had the opportunity to meet and work with many art material manufacturers. I moved into online publishing, working for the Artist Magazine and then American Artist, administrating WetCanvas!, producing DVDs, developing online classes and writing blogs. I have been at Golden Artist Colors for over two years working as a Commercial Applications Specialist, researching products, developing techniques, and teaching customers how to use the products.
