IDAL Instructor Biography
Ruth Giovenetti

Working as a decorative artisan/painter in Lubbock, Texas, for the past 27 years, Ruth has had the chance to work in different mediums of our craft. She also has had the pleasure of working in a variety of places! She has done work all over Texas, New Mexico, Illinois and Arizona as well as Dongguan, China and Beijing, China.

Gio Studio works mostly in water-based products, both for health and environmental issues. Ruth has been teaching hand silvering mirrors for 3 years. Having worked with distressing mirrors for approximately 7 years and through an extensive process of trial and error, Ruth has developed a way aroud the frustrating aspect of removing the backing of commercial mirrors, by simply avoiding it altogether. Since Ruth started working with this technique, she has dramatically cut down on her costs, and now approximately 1/3 of her business has become hand silvering distressed mirrors.
