IDAL Instructor Biography

Lauren Rosenblum

Residing on Long Island, New York, Lauren is currently teaching at Long Island Academy of Fine Art and running her business  Lauren Rosenblum Decorative Designs.

In addition to a degree from Fashion Institute of Technology, she has also studied with other notable artists at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, The Arts Student League, Stevenson Academy of Art and Long Island Academy of Art.

She began her career as a textile designer creating designs, repeats, and color development for the home furnishings market for clients including Revman (Laura Ashley line), Dan River, Raymond Waites, Royalton (Joseph Abboud line), Burlington, West Point Stevens, Bob Timberlake and Springs Industries. 

Lauren Rosenblum Decorative Designs has been operating for over 15 years producing all aspects of the art form including Venetian plaster, Metallic plaster, Faux Bois, Marbleing, Glazing and Murals. These finishes can be applied to walls, furniture, floors and architectural moldings. 

Lauren's love of fiber art began with traditional quilt designs. She began experimenting with dying her own fabric using fiber reactive dyes, silk screen and shibori techniques. Her work has been featured in the following shows and publications; Quilt National,World Quilt and Textiles,  American Quilter's Society and Visions / Quilt San Diego, Hersh Fine Art Gallery, Gallery North,  Art that Matters, Fiberarts Design book six/seven, The Surface Designer's Art and The Best of Contemporary Quilts.

She is currently working on a series of pieces that are inspired by her photographs of nature.
