IDAL Instructor Biography
Eugenia Almeida has been surrounded by art her entire life. Growing up in a family of artists, her father and mother are both painters, Eugenia learned from an early age that art is life. Her professional career as an artist began over two decades ago, when her youngest child started elementary school. Eugenia began with small projects at first – painting landscapes and people’s homes, both interior and exterior – and quickly discovered her love of textures. To explore this newfound love, she apprenticed in Italy, France, Spain and many other amazing countries where she took courses on different mediums like plasters, concrete, and minerals. She learned how to do amazing things with a wide variety of backgrounds, including the simplest of walls.
This love, passion and interest led her to create her own faux finishing company, A New Hue. Eugenia’s vision was to take the ordinary and make it magical, eye-catching, long-lasting and cost-effective. She created an amazing team of artists, who she now considers family. Together, A New Hue’s team shares a vision of magical transformation through faux finishing to meet the client’s needs. A New Hue expanded in January 2020, with the acquisition of JaDecor, a 100% green, all-natural material wall covering that combines natural cotton fibers and silk to create sound-proofing and thermal qualities. JaDecor is incredibly versatile and can be left natural or curated by Eugenia and her team to create a unique wall finish. This innovative product is expanding A New Hue’s reach to residential and commercial spaces across the United States. The future looks bright for A New Hue.
