The Art of Working With Designers

Many of the best and most profitable projects come from architects and designers.  The challenge is to unravel the mystery of capturing their attention and developing loyal relationships with them. Ultimately, they can become your best sales tool.

  • Topics to be covered include:
  • Where to find them,
  • The thought process of a designer,
  • Presenting with design savvy,
  • Billing, pricing and contracts,
  • Interesting tips, tricks and marketing tools,

Midas Metall:
Cold Metallization: Pre-certification as an Applicator of MIDAS Metall(R)

Students will learn the process of Cold Metallization and begin the process for becoming certified as an applicator in MIDAS Metall®. MIDAS Metall® application involves mixing metal powder with a water-based pre-catalyzed binder. After curing, an applicator will sand and polish to expose a solid metal skin coating on their surface.

The class begins with lecture and demonstration of the MIDAS Metall® product,  the students will then start creating their own textured sample which they will take with them after the class.  Students will mix and apply the MIDAS Metall® materials to create their own unique sample in their metal color of choice.  Students will watch a full demonstration of the sanding and polishing process that creates a  fully polished metal surface. They will get hands on practice in sanding and polishing during the class on class provided samples.  They will receive instructor feedback to ensure proper technique on the polishing process to ensure full understanding and skill.

Students will take their cured samples home after the class to polish.  After completion of the samples, students will submit a photo of their sample and receive feedback from the instructor.  All students will receive full Applicator Authorization of MIDAS Metall® after successful sample submission.  Due to safety restrictions with polishing, students will polish their sample on their own and submit a photo of their polished sample for review and critique.  After a successful sample submission, students will become fully Authorized Applicators of MIDAS Metall®.

Neutrally Exclusive

Lack of color does not have to mean lack of interest. The finishes in this class exemplify how the calm neutral palette so popular in today’s interior design, can be applied in dynamic and impactful ways to create inspiring spaces that are anything but boring. And just because something looks complex doesn’t mean it has to BE complex. Michele will show how minimal layers, easily-executed techniques, and the same three products can achieve a variety of dramatically different looks. In addition to the 5-6 hands-on finishes accomplished during class, students will also go home with two additional completed sample boards with recipes that the instructor will demonstrate. That’s 7-8 highly sellable new additions to your portfolio wrapped up in a fun one-day class!
