Bring true definition, depth and beauty by learning how to create your own Bas Relief piece of artwork.
In this class you will learn to be comfortable with plasters, tools, molds and glazes. You will leave with a confidence in knowing how to create Bas Relief from start to finish!
You will also be learning the entire process of silicone rubber mold making which will save you countless hours of duplicating elements of your design.
You will become familiar with different types of plasters, how to sculpt the plasters to create 3D murals, and how to apply plaster ornaments into your finishes.
This is a fast paced class with lots of information, education, and creativity packed into it - plus a few surprises from Ellie!

Three-Day Intensive Workshop
Instructor: Pascal Amblard
In this exciting new three-day class, renowned French decorative artist Pascal Amblard will teach the methods of painting the graceful Rococo ornament of 18th century France. Ornament is once again on-trend in decorative painting, and Pascal Amblard is one of the living masters of this style.
Participating artists will paint an ornamental "Turquerie" panel 35"x 40" featuring hand painted vases and figures and stylized ornament suitable for framing, or for use as wall decor, panel ornament, or cabinet inset. Classwork will include choosing colors and materials, effective brushwork, techniques for creating fine gilt "rehaussé" highlights.

Florentine Gilding Techniques
3 Day gilding and painting workshop with Special Guest Instructor: Alison Woolley of Florence, Italy
This three-day workshop focuses on decorating wooden panels and mouldings using time-honored Italian gilding techniques. Learn to gild wooden furniture and frames, as well as architectural elements for interiors; create lovely rich works of art and accessories using gold and silver leaf, paint, and Florentine methods such as water gilding, punch-work, incising, and sgraffito as well as mordant (oil) gilding, painting and finishing techniques.
Open to all levels: participants may choose their projects according to their level of experience.

Learn to use traditional Florentine materials such as gilders gesso, earth pigments and oxides, natural paint mediums, waxes and polishes to create the beautiful rich patterns and finishes seen in early Renaissance art.
